Sue Gay, painter

An artist with a reflective perspective

My work aims for a subtle vitality. There is an emphasis on draughtsmanship, with a fleeting, fragile quality. I frequently start  a painting using watercolour or acrylic on a sheet of glass, which is then transferred to paper or canvas. This necessitates a speed and fluidity that gives the work an intuitive, unforced character.
